Developmental editing

I can help you work on a piece at an early or a late stage, with large-scale constructive feedback on plot, pacing, character, and more. I’ll return your manuscript to you with some line notes and an editorial letter.

I charge 1¢ per word for developmental editing, with a minimum of $500.

Copy editing

Whether you want to make sure your querying manuscript is perfect or need a final polish before you self-publish, I can go through your piece with a fine-toothed comb for typos, consistency, and grammar/style.

I charge 1¢ per word for copy editing, with a minimum of $500 for novels and a minimum of $150 for shorter works.

Academic editing

If you’re not certain of your grammar or have spent way too long staring at a paragraph, I am here to help! I’ve worked on PhD dissertations, essays being published in academic journals, and papers in a variety of fields.

Pricing varies based on the type of editing and the length of your project, so please contact me for a quote.

Authenticity/Sensitivity reading

Writing about a marginalized group, but not sure whether you’re accidentally falling into a stereotype or harmful depiction? I can offer sensitivity reading if your piece includes gender non-conformity, nonbinary people, lesbian characters or themes, or LGBT+ topics generally.

I charge 0.5¢/word for shorter pieces, 0.2¢/word if it’s over 50,000 words.

Why me?

I have extensive experience in traditional publishing, having spent two years working under Joshua Bilmes of Jabberwocky Literary agency and editing for authors such as Brandon Sanderson, Peter V. Brett, and Grady Hendrix. I have also worked with editors at major publishing houses such as Tor Books.

Testimonials

Kellen Graves, author of the Rowan Blood series

“Arielle is a fantastic editor. Not only is she amazing at spotting typos, correcting grammar, and keeping your entire (and I mean you entire) manuscript seamless, she’s also so quick with her feedback. I cannot recommend her more!”

KD Tabith, author of the Checkmate series

I think we are actually progressing fairly quickly in our research because of your editing. Just small changes make a huge difference for someone that knows those nuanced writing styles. If we miss just one, they throw our work away, sometimes literally. My research index score went up 20% after we published that last paper you edited.
